UniPi Neuron S103 is a universal control unit and a part of Neuron modular PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) product range.
The IQRF variant features the TR-76D smart wireless transceiver compatible with the IQRF Technology communication standard for interoperability with any IQRF-compatible devices.
UniPi Neuron S103-IQRF is a universal control unit. It is a compact PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) which can be used for home automation. The unit can also be utilized for energy consumption monitoring, data collection and cloud storage or as a gateway for other devices (such as boilers or heaters).
The Neuron features digital inputs, transistor outputs and RS485 serial interface. The S103-IQRF features the TR-76D smart wireless transciever, operating on 868 or 916 MHz bands (can be configured through a corresponding software) and utilizing the IQRF Technology wireless standard.
This standard uses a highly reliable wireless mesh communication broadcasted on sub-gigahertz bands.
Such technology has two main advantages – long signal range and low power consumption. Thanks to the long range, the user does not have to use repeaters or base stations to extend the signal range, and due to using a patented Directed Flooding mesh networking protocol, the communication retains its reliability even in harsh RF environments. Thanks to a 1 GB RAM and 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU, the Neuron has a very low response rate (ie. delay between input signal reception and output response) of about 0.5 ms. The Neuron thus offers a professional level of performance in a compact and affordable package, stored in durable aluminium case. As standard, the unit is equipped with a DIN rail mount to attach the unit into distribution box. The required space is 4 DIN modules (1 module = 17.5 mm width).
Small yet powerful, Neuron S103-IQRF has excellent response time. Thanks to a 1 GB RAM and a quad-core 1.2 GHz CPU, an input-output signal response can be as low as 0.5 s. The Neuron thus offers level of performance comparable with professional PLC's in compact affordable package.
The basic software provided is the Linux OS along with the Modbus communication interface using TCP protocol - both can be downloaded freely from our website. This basic solution is designed for simple user application implementation and supports remote access along with running the software on the unit itself. Combination of both methods provide the customer with advantages of a distributed system. The S103-IQRF's software was designed to be as open as possible. Customers are thus not limited to a single software solution and can choose from a variety of native, commercial or open-source platforms for control, regulation and PLC configuration.

Inputs and outputs
Digital inputs are designed for reading of binary values (0/1, on/off, open/closed etc.) and are thus suitable for connecting switches, motion sensors, window or door magnetic locks etc.
Digital outputs can be used to control binary state devices, such as lightning switches, window shutters control, remote door control etc.
Analog inputs are used to receive either 0-10V voltage or 0-20mA current signals. Alternatively, they can be used for reading data from corresponding sensors, such as resistance thermometers. The user can adjust the input mode via corresponding control software.
Analog outputs are used for control of external devices such as three-way valves or heat exchangers via 0-10V voltage or 0-20mA current signals. Analog outputs allow current or voltage regulation - alternatively, Group 1 inputs can be used in combination with resistance thermal sensors.
The S103-IQRF is suitable for all non-safety systems, yet thanks to the Modbus compatibility, it can be used along safety system controllers as well as with any other external device supporting the protocol.
